Crowds of people assembled in Ras Aqabat Dhilie, a crossroad between Asir and Jazan, to cheer the returning soldiers. A source at Asir Governorate told Arab News that the reception was spontaneous and that members of the public expressed their happiness at the soldiers’ return and victory.
Soldiers held high the Kingdom's flag, raised victory signs and shouted slogans expressing their readiness to defend the Kingdom. The returning soldiers were from the 10th and 18th brigades.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education in the Asir region announced that 1,500 female students had also participated in the welcoming celebrations. The announcement was made during a gathering organized for the families of soldiers martyred in the fighting. One of those who attended the event was the wife of Maj. Gen. Ali Khawaji, commander of the southern region.
A number of female secondary school students whose fathers were martyred in the fighting also participated in a military march dressed in military jackets and hats.
Donations were also collected at the gathering for the girls whose fathers had died in the line of duty.
