The woman’s case was brought to the attention of the NSHR by a Jeddah-based satellite television channel recently.
The woman’s six children have been living with their father away in a village in Jazan after she was separated from the man six years ago.
The woman’s complaint, forwarded to NSHR by the television, charged that her husband did not do anything to get their children’s identity documents processed. Without identity papers the children cannot go to school or even to hospitals.
“My eldest daughter with poor health goes to hospital with the help of neighbors because she does not have an identity document of her own. My sons are not going to school because of the same reason. One of them got admitted to a primary school very late after local people interfered,” the woman said.
She said she has not received any help from the government or the courts.
“Their father blocks their attempts to communicate with me. It was one year ago when I saw them last. Then I found them in a miserable state,” said the woman.
