Addressing a ceremony held to distribute the Prince Muhammad bin Fahd Prize for best government performance, he said the prize would contribute to development by encouraging employees to perform their duties in an excellent manner.
“Saudi Arabia is witnessing a major economic boom ... It should be accompanied by developments in different areas, especially in government services,” the deputy governor told the gathering. He also called for simplifying bureaucratic procedures.
“This prize is one of the initiatives of Prince Muhammad bin Fahd, governor of the Eastern Province, to make use of the results of best administrative practices in the service of society,” Prince Jalawi said.
He said the prize highlights the distinguished and innovative performance of the winners. “It will contribute to promoting a culture of excellence among all government departments,” he pointed out.
He called upon all government departments to exert greater efforts to improve their services, making use of the huge facilities provided by the state. “We hope that the departments that could not win any prize this year would win in the coming years,” he said. Prince Jalawi congratulated all winners as well as all those who worked for making the prize a success.
Eissa Al-Ansari, secretary of the prize, said five government employees would be honored this year as best employee of the year. They were selected from among 84 nominees.
“Considering the large number of qualified nominees, it has been decided to increase the number of this prize from five to 10 from next year,” he said. The desalination plant in Alkhobar, which is affiliated to the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) won the prize for the best government department while Al-Ahsa Municipality won the prize for the best main government agency. Saud Al-Babtain Cardiac Center and the SWCC Training Center in Jubail were other winners.
The best employee awards were given to Abdullah Al-Saqoufi of Customs in King Abdul Aziz Port, Raed Al-Saeed of Alkhobar Baladiya, Nabeel Al-Dossary of Saudi Post, Muhammad Al-Qahtani of Prisons Department, and Maha Al-Dossary of Civil Service.
