Speaking at a gathering of Pakistanis at the Pakistan International School Taif on Wednesday night, Alisherzai said that the community’s welfare was his top priority and that he was in touch with the Saudi government to resolve the problems of the Pakistani community here.
Stressing the need for quality education in the school, the ambassador said that raising the standard of education was the joint responsibility of teachers, parents and students. He said that merit would be strictly observed in the recruitment of teachers in the future. He said the  management committee for Taif school had been constituted and would be functional within the next 15 days.
A system will be in place soon to ensure financial support to the poor but intelligent students, he said. Alisherzai urged the affluent members of the community to support deserving students.
Consul General Abdul Salik Khan, who also spoke at the meeting, asked members of the Pakistani community to point out problems and give proposals to resolve them. He assured the community members of full support from the embassy and the consulate.
