Two of the NL’s top offenses had trouble on a hot, breezy afternoon.
Iannetta connected in the sixth, one of only three hits off Wood (0-1), the rookie who allowed only one hit over nine innings his last time out but got no decision.
Colorado salvaged the final game of the series behind Cook (4-5), who had been one of only four full-time NL starters without a road win this season. He’d been 0-5 away from Coors Field.
Huston Street improved to 6 for 6 in save chances since returning from a sore shoulder.
At Chicago, Roy Halladay hit Marlon Byrd twice and gave up two-run homers to Geovany Soto and Alfonso Soriano after each errant throw, sending Chicago over Philadelphia.
Byrd became the first Cubs player in 105 years to be hit by a pitch 16 times in a season and Chicago took advantage of a rare wild night for Halladay, winning three of four in its first series since the All-Star break.
Tom Gorzelanny (5-5) allowed three runs, two earned, and five hits in 6 2-3 innings. The left-hander walked five and struck out five while improving to 3-0 with a 3.06 ERA in his past three starts.
Halladay (10-8) allowed six runs, five earned, and seven hits in six innings. He had pitched nine innings in each of his previous two starts.
At San Diego, Chris Denorfia homered twice and had four hits, and Everth Cabrera tripled in the go-ahead run moments before being ejected for a tussle with Mark Reynolds .
Both of Denorfia’s home runs were solo shots, and his four hits matched a career high.
The win allowed the first-place Padres (54-37) to sweep Arizona and go 17 games over .500 for the first time this season. The Padres have won four straight and eight of 12.
Cabrera, who struck out his first two at-bats, tripled into the right-field corner off Edwin Jackson (6-8) in the sixth inning to score Denorfia and put San Diego ahead 4-3.
Kevin Correia (6-6) took the loss, the 10th in 12 games for Arizona.
At Pittsburgh, Paul Maholm pitched a three-hitter for his second career shutout and the Pirates established a season high for hits for the second consecutive game.
Maholm (6-7) faced only two batters above the minimum in needing 103 pitches to throw his first shutout since April 24, 2007, against Houston.
Garrett Jones hit a two-run shot, the Pirates’ first multiple-run homer in five weeks, and Ronny Cedeno went 4 for 4 with three doubles. The Pirates had 19 hits a day after amassing 17.
Roy Oswalt (6-11) retired only seven of the final 14 batters he faced for Houston.
At San Francisco, Ike Davis doubled home the go-ahead run in 10th inning after the Mets wasted a two-run lead in the ninth, as New York avoided a four-game sweep.
Travis Ishikawa’s two-run, pinch-hit single tied the game in the ninth inning, but he was thrown out at the plate on an infield chopper as the potential winning run. Replays showed Ishikawa appeared to be safe as he slid into home.
Giants closer Brian Wilson (2-1) got two outs in the 10th before giving up Jason Bay’s third single. Davis, who also drove in a run in the eighth, doubled high off the right field wall.
Francisco Rodriguez (3-2) blew his fourth save in 26 chances but earned the win.
At St. Louis, Matt Holliday drove in the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning, and the Cardinals rallied from a four-run deficit to finish a four-game sweep.
Allen Craig filled in for Albert Pujols , who got the day off for just the second time this season, and drove in three runs in the final two innings on his 26th birthday.
Jonathan Broxton (3-1) served up the pitch in the ninth inning that Holliday hit over Andre Ethier’s head in right field, bringing home Jon Jay with the winning run.
Ryan Franklin (4-1) pitched the ninth for St. Louis to earn the win.
At Atlanta, Brian McCann hit a grand slam and matched his career high with five RBIs, helping the Braves end a rare two-game home losing streak.
Matt Diaz drove in three runs with three hits, including a homer, and Derek Lowe (10-8) went 5 1-3 innings as the Braves took a split in the four-game series.
Rickie Weeks had two homers and Fielder hit his second in as many days for Milwaukee, while Manny Parra (3-7) gave up 10 hits and 10 runs in only 5 1-3 innings.
At Miami, Alex Sanabia pitched into the sixth inning to earn his first major league win, and four relievers helped the Marlins shut out the Nationals for the second game in a row.
The Nationals went 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position for the second consecutive game.
Sanabia (1-1), making his second career start, allowed four hits in 5 1-3 innings and lowered his ERA to 2.12 in five games this season. Leo Nunez earned his 22nd save.
Craig Stammen (2-4) wound up with the loss, allowing the only run in six innings.
