The man was in police custody for robbing a an old woman, her son and two daughters of jewelry, clothes, cash and car after beating them up in Al-Sufyani Plots on the Haj Street in the Muabadah district two months ago.
Police rescued the family who were gagged and bound with ropes. The thief also drove away the car belonging to the family. After two months of investigations, the police arrested the culprit — a Saudi in his thirties, on Friday.
“The arrested man fled from the police station when a policeman was trying to make the prisoner’s stay comfortable inside the station house,” Makkah Police spokesman Maj. Abdul Mohsen Al-Mayman said.
According to a reliable source, the man is a murderer of his own brother and was condemned to death but was pardoned by their mother. But later he was sentenced to five years’ hard labor for breaking his mother’s leg. Police records also showed him that he was a drug addict who occasionally resorted to stealing.
