Meanwhile, Faheem Ansari and Sabaduddin Ahmed, both acquitted by the special court in the Mumbai terror attacks, would be produced by the Lucknow police before the sessions judge in Mumbai on Sept. 23. The Maharashtra government had petitioned the Mumbai high court against the acquittal of Ansari and Ahmed.
The high court accepting the appeal of the state government ordered the Uttar Pradesh police to produce both the accused before the sessions court in Mumbai. Both the accused are lodged in different prisons in Uttar Pradesh. The UP police alleged that the two accused were part of a terrorist team which targeted the Central Reserve Police Force Camp in Rampur on Jan. 1, 2008. Eight policemen were killed in the attack.
