The conference, being organized with the support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, is to be held for the third time and has been jointly organized by the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization, the Saudi Council for Quality Standards and the Ministry of Education.
The focus of the conference — which carries the theme “Quality: the Road to Globalization” — will be the achievement of greater standards of quality in Haj and Umrah services. Both the Committee for Haj and Umrah and the Committee for Quality Standards at the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) are to present papers at the event.
The first paper will be on the quality standards of the upcoming metro rail service at the holy sites, a part of which will begin operating this year. The paper has been prepared by Adnan Al-Saghir, a member of the MCCI's Committee for Quality Standards. The second paper will focus on the difficulties faced by returning Haj and Umrah pilgrims and their service organizations and will be delivered by Ayman Bashawri.
The MCCI’s chairman, Talal Mirza, said it is significant that the MCCI is participating in the conference, especially since the conference is focusing on Haj services. He added that the conference aims to spread a culture of quality standards in the public sector.
He said the conference also aims to take a major step toward achieving the quality goals of the Kingdom’s products and services for the year 2020.
Other topics scheduled to be discussed in the conference include the principles of quality standards, and quality standards in energy and oil, government services, education and health.
“All sectors in the service of Haj and Umrah are striving to implement the Kingdom’s national goals of quality,” said Saad Al-Qarshi, another member of the MCCI. He added that the meeting would help various service departments lay down annual plans and programs to develop quality standards in Haj and Umrah, in addition to training a national cadre in collaboration with other departments.
He hoped the conference would also come up with recommendations on the matter.
