The pact was worked out between Thackeray and the channel officials at the former's residence when an apology letter was tendered. The apology followed the blocking of the channel by 2,500 cable operators affiliated to the Sena in Mumbai and Thane. Only after the pact was reached did the cable operators lift the ban.
The sources said that as per the pact the two Pakistani artists Veena Malik and Nawazish Ali would be eliminated from the show in a strategy worked out by the channel.
According to reports former Sena legislator and president of Sena cable operators and distributors association Anil Parab said, "We want the Pakistani artists to be kicked out of the show, and unless this is not done our agitation will continue."
According to sources, the channel officials assured the Sena chief that the two Pakistani artists would be eased out soon.
An indication that the two Pakistani artists would be eased out came on Friday, when Nawazish Ali was nominated in the elimination round and is sure to be eliminated. Next week it could be Veena Malik's turn.
The Sena writ still rules in Bollywood and the Indian television world with Colors TV succumbing to the Sena pressure, said a Sena leader speaking on condition of anonymity. "The Sena will not allow or tolerate the participation of any Pakistani artists in any Indian television or live show in India. Even cricket matches between India and Pakistan will not be allowed nor would any Pakistani cricketer be allowed to participate in any matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL)," he added.
"We have clarified our stance on the Bigg Boss show to the Sena leadership who were satisfied with our explanation," said a spokesman of the Colors TV, but refused to confirm or deny whether an informal pact was reached between them and the Sena.
