Events are being held globally today for World Osteoporosis Day. Osteoporosis is a medical condition characterized by a decrease in the density of bone, resulting in fragile bones. In Saudi Arabia, the incidence of osteoporosis is skyrocketing. This year, the focus of World Osteoporosis Day is spinal bone health, with the motto “Don’t miss the signs of a breaking spine.” Snap! The breaking spine is a photographic journey, available as a book, exhibition and online multimedia experience through www.iofsnap.org. Snap! takes viewers across the globe to Brazil, Canada, India, Jordan and Switzerland. The photographic essay captures a typical day in the lives of six people with osteoporosis and spinal fractures. At times touching and sad, at times hopeful, the photographs provide an intimate portrait of the daily challenges of living with this illness.

The Energizer Inductive Charger is an inductive charging station built with Qi technology, the new universal charging standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). Considered to be one of the most compelling new developments in charging technology, Qi (pronounced chee) gives consumers the freedom to charge any device requiring five watts or less, on a single charging station, regardless of manufacturer. The Energizer Inductive Charger is designed to charge up to three devices at one time. It features two large inductive charging zones where consumers can simply set down a device on the charging station to power it up. It also has a USB port so it’s easy to charge an additional device such as a phone, headset or camera. Currently, it’s necessary to also purchase a separate charging accessory specific to the device to be charged, but soon, consumers can expect to have Qi built into many of their handheld electronics.
