Prince Faisal, who is also chairman of the Insan Society, was given the check by Abdullah Al-Arrak, Coca-Cola's assistant general manager, at a brief ceremony at SRMG headquarters. Prince Faisal, who also chairs the Riyadh Corporate Social Responsibility Council (RCSRC), said the donation would go a long way in “helping and rehabilitating orphans currently under Insan's sponsorship.”
The presentation ceremony was attended by top executives of SRMG, Coca-Cola and Insan Society, including Ziad Tahmaz, Coca-Cola marketing manager, Anwer Jamal Kedwai, operations manager, and Saleh bin Abdullah Yousef, Insan Society's general manager. Referring to the support extended by Coca-Cola to Insan, Prince Faisal said: “The CCBCSA had been providing funds from its sales proceeds generously for the last three years.”
He said that the support given by the company would go a long way in “alleviating the sufferings of children and integrating them into the mainstream of Saudi society.” He said that “such support enables the charity to exert more efforts to improve these children’s situation.” Prince Faisal said that Insan’s specific objectives were “to uplift and improve the quality of life of orphans by participating specifically in programs dealing in education, care and feeding schemes, prevention and psycho-social support.” More than 32,000 orphans are currently on the roll of Insan Society. Coca-Cola has realized the need of these children, who lack the means for proper care and education, said Al-Arrak, speaking on the occasion.
“We are proud to be aligned with organizations such as the Insan Society,” he added. Al-Arrak pointed out that the company collected and donated SR515,000 to Insan last year. He said that the CCBCSA in partnership with Coca-Cola International have joined together on several social initiatives under its CSR mandate. The company has also been closely working with different government agencies and NGOs, including the local chapter of the UNDP on different social projects, said Tahmaz, referring to Coca-Cola’s operations in Saudi Arabia.
Insan Society is a major charity dedicated to providing support and services for orphans, said Yousef, speaking on the occasion. Insan Society, he said, had formulated a 10-year expansion plan.
