The workshop is being held by a committee of sign language experts and interpreters that was formed under the umbrella of the Saudi Deaf Sports Federation.
Experts in sign language from across the Kingdom are participating in the workshop and are expected to vote on appropriate signs for religious terms that will be included in a special dictionary for the deaf.
The lexicon will be produced over the next few months and will be the first of its kind to guide deaf people in the Kingdom on religious matters. Experts from the Ministry of Education, King Saud University, Imam Muhammad bin Saud University, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Saudi Society for Deafness Disability and a number of sign-language interpreters are attending the event.
