Police said the theft occurred late afternoon in the Guwaizah district. “Police received a call from the victim early afternoon, not long after the theft had happened,” said Jeddah police spokesman Col. Misfer Al-Juaid.
“During the call, he reported the thief’s description, name, age and items stolen from his property. Security officers quickly conducted a wide search for the suspect, which resulted in him being captured.”
The suspect is being held at Al-Muntazahat police station for further investigations.
Meanwhile, an Indian chauffeur in Kandarah is in custody for stealing SR19,000 from a fellow resident.
“The victim asked the suspect to do some chores for him. While doing so, the suspect allegedly went to the victim’s vehicle, stole money inside it and fled. When the victim found out, he informed police immediately,” said Al-Juaid.
Security officers searched for the suspect in the area and eventually arrested him.
Al-Juaid warned residents not to leave valuable items, especially cash, in their vehicles. He also urged them to be careful when dealing with employees who might otherwise take advantage of them.
