“This is completely untrue,” said Ayed Al-Qahtani, director of information and public relations at GOTEVT.A
number of Internet sites recently reported that a vocational training
college in Madinah was teaching the etiquette of serving alcohol in
restaurants in its tourism and hotel course. They also claimed that the
TVTC was teaching how to serve liquor in nightclubs as part of its
English language syllabus.“We will file libel cases against these
sites. The media should not be used to defame others or spread rumors
just for the sake of getting a scoop,” said Al-Qahtani, adding that the
organization's syllabuses are Shariah compatible and commensurate with
the needs of the local market.Al-Qahtani, however, admitted that
some reference books which students read may include material against
Shariah. “We have no hand in this. We cannot impose our beliefs and
culture on others,” he said.
