“The conference, to be attended by well-known researchers and specialists from the Kingdom and other countries, will shed light on the issue of technical and vocational training programs and their important role in developing and qualifying human resources,” Abdulaziz Al-Amr, TVTC director general for international cooperation, told Arab News on Wednesday.
Al-Amr said that labor ministers from Saudi Arabia, Finland and South Korea have been invited to be guest speakers.
He added that the conference would also tackle the vital role of the programs in terms of sustainable economic and social development, exhibiting types of problems and their corresponding solutions.
He added that the conference will have seven themes — the challenges and future prospects of technical and vocational training staff, training institutions and labor market needs, economics of human resource development, employability skills in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), quality assurance in TVET programs, vocational guidance as a tool for success and effective equipment procurement strategies for TVET solutions.
Al-Amr added that the TVTC had earlier held five similar conferences from which equally well-known local and foreign participants benefited in terms of enhanced knowledge on human resources development.
“The TVTC holds this conference every three years to update participants regarding the latest developments in human resources development, especially in technical and vocational training, so that they will be better equipped in their respective jobs,” he said.
He added that the TVTC also holds other conferences annually.
“Last year, the TVTC held an Arab forum on 'The Need of the Labor Market' under the patronage of Custodian of Holy Mosques King Abdullah in cooperation with the Arab Labor Organization, with 30 ministers from Arab countries participating,” he said.
