Ministry spokesman Ahmad Al-Ghamdi said the money would be used to repair homes, clean water tanks, maintain electric appliances and purchase school equipment. He said this would be done through the allocation of special coupons to be agreed upon with malls and mega stores by welfare societies.
"We will also use the money to buy medical equipment for disabled people," he added.
Al-Ghamdi also said the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) will assist needy families affected by the rains and floods.
"We will provide needy victims with furniture and keep on providing monthly financial aid," he added, quoting GOSI’s director in Makkah region Muhammad Al-Lahyani.
