Essam Anas, Egyptian sales manger at a company in Jeddah, said history was made in Egypt. In his opinion, the current changes will create more opportunities for youths to participate in politics.
“It is because of the youth that we finally know what freedom means,” said Essam. “They proved that the will of people is strong. If we believe in ourselves we will be successful more and more.”
He said all Egyptians should now focus on the future of the country.
“We should know our rights and work together to protect them,” he said. “The youth should participate in the political life.”
Mustafa Zahran, Egyptian project manager at a company in Jeddah, is so happy with the change and satisfied with the results.
“Egypt is now writing a new history,” he said. “I am very happy with the Egyptian youth. The people around the world are now respecting the Egyptians and their experience. More people will participate in the upcoming election for president.”
Adel Mokbel, Egyptian karate instructor at a local club in Jeddah, said he is sad and happy at the same time: happy with the historic moment and happy with changes, but also sad because he thinks that Mubarak deserves more respect.
“The change is positive, and I am glad it happened,” he said. “The youths proved they can do the impossible. Now that this is over, we should think about how to solve the unemployment problem because it is the major problem facing the youth today. We should employ them and benefit from their energy. It was a brave move by the president to step down for the benefit of the country. We thank him for all he did. During his time, the country faced ups and downs. He did many good things for the country. He is a war hero and he sacrificed his life to keep the country united and safe.”
Reham Muhammed, an Egyptian woman living in Jeddah, thinks it is sad that Egyptians did not give a chance for the last government to work, to wait until the presidential election. She thinks that now all Egyptians must do is rebuild the country and improve the national economy. She hopes that the next presidential candidates will be qualified to govern Egypt, adding that fixing the economy should be the top priority.
