“You men and women who love Qaddafi, get out of your homes and fill the streets. Leave your homes and attack them in their lairs. Starting tomorrow (Wednesday), the cordons will be lifted, go out and fight them,” he said in a public address on Wednesday.
“A small group of young people who have taken drugs have attacked police stations like mice. They have taken advantage of this peace and stability. However, it is not their fault, they tried to imitate what happened in Tunisia. However, there is a small group of sick people in cities that are circulating drugs and money.”
Pictures of bodies and the extreme force used against protesters have angered many Libyans in the Kingdom who are praying for a peaceful solution to the crisis in their country.
Messages are being circulated widely on the Internet and mobile phones requesting people in the Kingdom to pray for a peaceful political transition in the predominantly Muslim country.
According to Libyans Arab News spoke to, Qaddafi wanted to start a genocide against the Libyan people to crush the uprising.
Waleed Al-Bakkoush, son of the late former Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al-Bakkoush, said in a TV interview in Riyadh that the regime has lost control over the country.
He expressed extreme worry about what was happening in Libya, adding that Qaddafi's speech only shows that worse things are yet to come.
“For more than 41 years, the Libyan people were deprived of their basic rights. It is time for him to leave now.”
Tareq, a Libyan resident who works for an Umrah service agency in Makkah and whose family lives in Tripoli, said he is afraid for the future of his country.
“Qaddafi is the type of person that is willing to burn his country just to stay in power. He destroyed our country and he will not hesitate to kill as many people as he can. What is happening right now in Libya is genocide. Who would kill his own people except Qaddafi?” he asked.
Abdul Lateef, a Libyan resident in Jeddah who comes from Barqa in eastern Libya, said that his family escaped a long time ago from their home country. Two of his brothers live and work in the United States.
“Qaddafi called the honest Libyan people some bad names. He is trying his best to drive the country to civil war just to remain in power. He should realize that his time is over. He did not learn from the Tunisian and Egyptian example. Right now he is sinking and he is willing to sink the whole country,” he said.
Abdul Lateef added that the Libyan people were aware of Qaddafi’s attempt to lead the country to civil war and that they would foil his attempts. He said reports that 70 percent of the country was under the control of revolutionaries was a clear indication that his time is coming to an end.
Suleiman D., another Libyan resident, said that the latest developments in Libya demonstrated that the people would no longer tolerate Qaddafi.
“History will not forget what he did to the Libyan people. He is using mercenaries against his own people. I am watching the news day and night ... It will be a matter of days before Tripoli falls and the era of Qaddafi comes to an end,” said Suleiman.
