If you have been fit in the past but have not exercised for some time then you cannot just take up where you left off. You have to start gradually and then build up your fitness.  If you attempt a sudden come back in middle age you will end up in pain.  Men are guilty of this. When they decide to take up exercise again and attempt the comeback too quickly it is easy to overdo it spend a few days in pain.
It is very common in people who have once been very fit to think they can just start again where they left off.  It is so easy to overdo it and then stop because you realize you are out of condition.  The good news is that you can get back into shape if you give yourself time. Don’t try to start again where you left off or you will end up with muscle pain or even muscle damage. For example: If you used to enjoy running start again by walking and gradually pick up the pace until you can run for a while.
There is no doubt that in the modern world we need to exercise daily. It is the best-kept secret in preventative medicine and the best anti-ageing pill ever. If you need to get back into shape exercise is the first step even before you look at your eating habits. Exercise motivates.
If you get into exercise everything else will follow. Regular exercise protects against: Heart attacks, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, depression, dementia and memory loss.
You are never too old and never too young to start exercising as long as you start gently and gradually improve the number of repetitions. If you have health worries start with a walk and consult your doctor first.

I am passionate about the benefits exercising every morning every day: It gives results. It is particularly effective in achieving greater mobility. Exercise improves flexibility and balance that last a lifetime and are vital to long term good health and happiness.
Nelson Mandela talked about exercising every morning in his cell for 45 minutes to keep himself fit and healthy and feeling free. He said, “I have always believed that exercise is the key not only to physical health but to peace of mind.” My award-winning workout is cheaper than the gym and you can do it in the privacy of your own home or when traveling, in your hotel room. Why not try it and see? You can e-mail for a copy at [email protected].
I hope you do take up exercise, as it will improve your health.

I am pleased to hear that you are so determined to lose weight. The BMI is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared:
BMI =         weight (kg)
                 ————————------
                 height (m) x height (m)

Your BMI calculation would be:
1.60 times 1.60 = 2.56
90 divided by 2.56 = 35

This gives you a BMI, of 35 which is interpreted as follows: You should lose weight for your health as you are in the obese category.
Your aim should be to get down to 65 kilos; you need to make a sensible plan and aim to lose weight gradually. You can aim for a half kilo a week by making sensible, gradual changes to exercise and diet every week. Make time for some exercise, even if it is only stair climbing every day. In six weeks, you will notice a difference.
