While film celebrities Yusra and Inas Al-Daghaidi were physically attacked by Egyptians in London, Zamalik coach and former national football player Husam Hasan was pulled out of his car and roughed up by an angry mob in central Cairo.
Yusra and Inas fell victim to public ire when they showed up at a function to celebrate the fall of Mubarak organized by the Egyptian community in London recently.
The blacklist includes superstars such as Amr Diab, Tamer Hosni Imam, Mina Shalabi Ibrahim Hasan, Hasan Shahata and Mido.
Many political activists have called on the Egyptian public to boycott the actors’ films and functions. Tamer Hosni reportedly called on protesters in Tahrir Square to return to their homes.
Despite Hosni’s later attempt to visit Tahrir Square and restate his position, demonstrators jeered at him and told him to get out.
Actress Samah Anwar during the Tahrir protests was quoted as saying, “if the situation required authorities to use fighter planes and nuclear warheads against (the demonstrators), then no time should be wasted in order to save Egypt.”
Zamalik coach Hasan recommended stopping the water supply to Tahrir Square as a move to disperse protesters.
The coach and his brother had said on some television shows that the protesters were traitors, foreign agents and seditionists. They also led marches in support of Mubarak.
Pop singers Diab and Hosni suffered a sharp fall in their popularity because of their pro-Mubarak stand during the 18-day revolution.
The page for the blacklist on Facebook says the superstars have been accused of badmouthing Egyptians and misleading them in addition to inciting the public against the protesters and calling them foreign agents and traitors.
