The motion was passed with a majority of 82 votes during the fourth ordinary session held under the council's Chairman Abdullah Al-Asheikh. This decision was taken  during a vote on the recommendations of the Committee on Housing, Water and Public Services on the annual report of the Public Authority for Housing for the period 1430/1431 AH.
The guidelines spelled out rules for the government officials to expedite the process of applications from citizens and the manner of screening them for the allocation of houses according to the present housing laws.
The council also reviewed the investment laws of the Kingdom and felt that there is a strong need for the modification of some of the articles in the investment law to accommodate the changing environment climate in the Kingdom. The house also sought more time to study the pros and cons of the investment laws before the council takes a firm decision on this matter.
Meanwhile, China has extended an invitation to Al-Asheikh to pay an official visit to the country. The invitation was formally presented by Chinese Ambassador Yang Honglin to Al-Asheikh during a meeting held at the Shoura headquarters in Riyadh on Monday.
Presenting the invitation on behalf of the president of the China's People's National Congress, Honglin told the  chairman of the Shoura Council that the visit would further enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.
Discussions between the envoy and the chairman focused on matters of bilateral interests on current regional and international affairs. They discussed ways and means of improving relations between the two countries’ parliaments.
