Hussein Al-Sharief, director of the NSHR’s branch in Makkah province, said all steps should be taken to protect the right of students.
He also indicated that the NSHR is striving to formulate a charter of rights for university students.
“The NSHR will organize a workshop with the participation of various departments and social groups to discuss the rights of students, including the preparation of a ‘charter of student rights,’” Al-Sharief said.
“The NSHR, which works with the help of legal and educational experts, acknowledges the rights of students of both sexes in Saudi universities, colleges and schools,” Hanan Hamad, a university student, told Arab News.
“Rights of students are part of human rights. It is currently examining the legal basis of the rights of students, which will be the foundation of a draft bill for their rights,” he said.
