Speaker Dilip Walse-Patil banned them until December this year on Thursday for creating a ruckus during a budget speech delivered by deputy chief minister and finance minister Ajit Pawar.
Squatting on the staircase of the assembly, the protesting legislators wore black bands around their arm as a mark of protest against the suspension of the nine legislators and stated that they would continue until the suspension order against the legislators was withdrawn. They added that they would not enter the assembly or participate in its proceedings till then.
To diffuse the confrontation between the ruling and opposition parties over the issue, Assembly speaker Patil suggested to Ganpatrao Deshmukh, senior leader of the Peasants and Workers Party (PWP), to hold talks with the government to resolve the issue.
On Friday afternoon he adjourned business at the house for the day after the opposition boycotted the proceedings in the assembly.
In the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Shiv Sena and BJP legislators also created unruly scenes in the house over the suspension of the legislators on Friday afternoon. Unable to control the unruly legislators, Chairman of the Council Shivajirao Deshmukh adjourned for the day.
