“He was worried about his math exam the day after and he just ran away because he did not want to face it,” Mohammed Akram, the boy's father, told Arab News.
Rizwan had reportedly taken a taxi from Hindawiya district to Sharafiyah and managed to get a cab ride to Makkah. He was found by strangers who handed him over to the police. The cops contacted the boy's father. The father said Rizwan chose the safety of the Haram instead of a friend's place. He spent his nights in the Haram.
“Pakistani Consul General Abdul Salik Khan coordinated with us and supported my family during this ordeal,” said the boy's father.
The boy is a student at the Pakistan International School in Aziziyah. He ran away on Monday after leaving for math tutoring in preparation for the exam.
“A lot of people have supported us and we would want to thank everyone for their kind support,” said Mohammed. “We are extremely happy to have our child back.”
