Prince Khaled, who is also director general of the King Faisal Foundation, has played a major role in boosting the development of Makkah province ever since he became the governor four years ago after the death of Prince Abdul Majeed, the former governor.
King Abdullah also extended the term of Prince Faisal bin Khaled as governor of Asir province for another four years. He took over as the province’s governor after Prince Khaled Al-Faisal was appointed Makkah governor. Another royal decree was issued on Saturday renewing the term of Abdul Rahman Al-Barrak, deputy chairman of the Shoura Council.
In a statement on the occasion, Al-Barrak thanked King Abdullah for renewing his term for another four years. “The royal confidence will encourage me to do more in the service of the country and its people,” he said. Prince Faisal thanked the Saudi leadership for the confidence they vested in him. “This is a great responsibility and demands working day and night in order to realize the expectations of King Abdullah,” he said.
He thanked the people of Asir province for their support to his development activities. “Actually they were actual partners in the development process,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted him as saying.
Prince Faisal said the future phase required greater support and efforts from them. He said he has presented a number of development projects to the higher authorities for approval and allocation. “The government has allocated SR10 billion in the current budget for new projects in the region,” he pointed out. A number of development projects are under way at a cost of SR7 billion.
