Wednesday’s order comes two days after Col. Arif Mohamed Saeed Mohamed Al-Ali was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport aboard a nonstop flight to his home country.
A spokesman for the US Attorney’s office in Rhode Island says the judge ordered Al-Ali confined to his home except for travel to court, his attorney’s office or the Naval War College, where he is studying. The judge also ordered him to wear a GPS monitoring device.
Al-Ali has pleaded not guilty to charges he lured a Filipino servant to the US, failed to pay her and kept her confined in his house.
