During the meeting Premier Najib and Sheikh Al-Sudais discussed Islamic issues as well as the condition of Muslims in different parts of the world. Al-Sudais emphasized the need for Muslims to abide by the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah in all walks of their lives.
Earlier in the day, Al-Sudais visited the Higher Institute for Advanced Islamic Studies in Malaysia where he gave a lecture on "Islamic civilization in the backdrop of modern challenges."
He said Islam was facing challenges from within and outside the Muslim community. He said many Muslims do not know the correct teachings of their religion with some of them taking extreme views.
He said the Islamic civilization is based on justice, wisdom, freedom, moderation, tolerance and peaceful coexistence with others. He urged Muslims to uphold moderate Islamic teachings and set a good example for others by practicing Islamic moral values.
