A delegation from the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), headed by IDB President Ahmed Mohammad Ali, members of IDB board of executive directors and the general managers of the IDB affiliated institutions visited King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Rabigh on Saturday. During the visit, the delegation got a briefing on the last development phases of the city by the managing director and chief executive officer of “Emaar Economic City,” in the presence of the chairman of the board of directors of the Economic Cities Authority. The delegation also visited the Economic Cities Authority building and watched a presentation by the secretary-general of the authority. Afterward, the delegation watched a presentation on distance communication technology in the authority building. The delegation concluded its visit to the city by a general view of the most important achievements so far. KAEC is described as the largest economic project of the private sector in the Middle East, where Emaar Economic City company is developing six major parts of the city, a seaport, an industrial valley, a central business district, resorts, a residential area and an education complex. The city is located about 90 km north of Jeddah on the Red Sea coast.
Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (JCCI) Secretary General Adnan Mandoura will open a four-day Furnidex Arabia, labeled Saudi Arabia’s second International Exhibition for Furniture, Furnishings, Hometex & Decor, at the Jeddah Centre for Forums & Events at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011. Organized by the Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions Ltd., the annual event, which runs till May 11, is being held under the auspices of the JCCI. Established as Saudi Arabia’s key event, this premier international exhibition is highly supported with participants from international companies, major Saudi manufacturers, agents and distributors, and a wide spectrum of high profile professional visitors from across the Kingdom and neighboring Gulf states.
