Hasip Kaplan, a Kurdish politician, told HaberTurk television Monday that Kurds managed to recover some bodies from the mountainous battle zone near the province of Sirnak. The military has said the clashes occurred early Friday and Saturday.
The rebels have been fighting for autonomy in the Kurdish-dominated southeast since 1984 and have threatened to intensify their attacks if Turkey does not agree to negotiations after June 12 national elections.
