Some drivers said this surprise couldn’t have come at a worse time since Thursday is one of the busiest days. Drivers had no other choice but to take alternative routes.
A resident of Rawdah district said he uses the road every day to go to work. He added that the closing down of the street shocked him as it took him an hour to reach home.
“For months, we have been seeing construction work at the underpass project. The municipality should have made an announcement before closing down the road to alert regular users of the street.
A Saudi who lives in Hera Street and works in Rawdah district said he always uses Sari to go to work. It took him more than an hour to reach his office because there was a traffic jam and he did not know about the municipality’s move. “No one was notified as usual. The municipality let the people discover it for themselves. The underpass if constructed on time will improve traffic for good.”
According to the information available on the site, the underpass project will take three years to complete.
