“The total number is 188,000 when we add those who registered for the previous elections,” said Dammam municipality spokesman Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Safyan, referring to the elections that occurred six years ago.
The preliminary list of candidates will be posted on June 18. Candidate-registration will begin on the 28th and will continue for six days. There were about 600 candidates in all during the last elections.
Al-Safyan asked voters to cast their ballots for the candidates with realistic programs that will serve the interests of all and who are ready to work in a team spirit.
“You have to give your vote to the candidates who will better represent you in the municipal council,” he told voters.
There are 21 municipal councils in the Eastern Province and 31 constituencies.
In Jouf province, 31,172 voters have registered for the municipal elections. Of them, 9,518 registered in the town of Sakaka; 9,231 in Qurayyat; and 3,074 in Dawmat Al-Jandal.
