Naqour expected the company, to be called Talah, to start operations before the end of the year, pending the completion of foundation procedures.
”The traffic firm will be the group’s inaugural investment project in Jordan, which enjoys political stability and security, which is a key incentive for businessmen to come to this country,” Naqour was quoted as saying by the Petra news agency.
”Jordan is a promising climate for investments, particularly in the light of the exceptional circumstances currently witnessed by the region,” he added.
He, however, urged the Jordanian government to adopt fresh facilities for foreign investors and allow them to recruit trained foreign manpower when necessary.
Naqour said attention should now focuss on Arab tourists because they usually spend more than their foreign counterparts.
Naqour currently chairs the Arab Tourist Transport Council of the Arab Tourism Organization and his group owns investments in Egypt, Lebanon, Britain and Dubai.
He met on Wednesday with Jordan Chamber of Commerce Chairman Nael Kabariti and discussed with him the chances for expanding investments in Jordan’s gold triangle — Aqaba, Petra and the Rum area.
