The 9-year-old son of two of Albuquerque’s well-known balloonists hopes to become the youngest trained pilot to fly solo in a hot air balloon.
Bobby says he’s “very, very excited.” For the past few days he has been practicing takeoffs and landing while his ultra-light balloon built has been tethered to the ground.
Dad Troy Bradley, a respected balloon instructor, said Friday that the weather forecast is looking perfect for his son’s flight.
Bobby can’t get his pilot’s license until he’s 16, so his family and friends built the smaller balloon that is classified as an ultra-light aircraft to enable the solo flight.
