Organized by Filipino community leaders in partnership with multinational patrons, the school will teach the curriculum prescribed by the Department of Education in the Philippines, with the approval of the Saudi Ministry of Education.
“Al-Bozouq is instituting e-learning with the cooperation of computer professionals,” said a statement from the school's managers. “Teachers, students and parents will be able to access the school network for lessons, assignments, grades and other related academic materials.”
Nazruddin Dianalan, an engineer and chairman of the governing board, said in an e-mail to Arab News that the school will be headed by Principal Norman Abdulrahman, who has a doctorate in educational management. The school’s cofounders include Jauhari Usman, former chairman of the umbrella organization Kasapi Congress; entrepreneur Rizaldy Javing; community leader Abdulhadi Bougart de Leon; and media person Franklin Resma..
Dianalan said the new school is accepting pupils and students from pre-elementary to high school, as well as the university preparatory level. Enrollment is ongoing for the 2011-2012 academic year according to the June-to-March Philippine school calendar. While Al-Bozouq mainly caters to Filipinos, other nationalities can also be admitted provided they secure the necessary permit from the Education Ministry and undergo equivalency evaluation by the school.
For inquiries, school officials can be contacted at mobile numbers 056-785-4520, 050-939-2306, 050-363-8174, 050-464-0510 and 056-313-9406.
Al-Bozouq is the fourth school offering the Philippine curriculum. Last year, there were seven such Filipino schools, but Saudi ministry officials ordered the closure of three of the schools for different reasons.
