The 14-year-old contacted his father from an unknown cell phone, telling him that he was in good health and at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Al-Watan reported. A special police team found the boy in the Grand Mosque.
The father told police that his son did not talk much on the phone, and only told him about his condition and the place he was in. Police are still investigating why the boy disappeared for eight days.
Abdullah Al-Sufyani went missing from a local mosque’s Qur’an memorization summer program in Taif.
People from Al-Sharqiya neighborhood organized search teams to look for the missing boy. The father of the boy said there had been no sign of him since July 2.
After the Qur’an-reading session ended, the boy left the mosque with his friends, but did not make it home. The father said his son never used to be late and never visited his relatives without informing the family.
