Second quarter output rose to 11.9 millions of barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) from 11.0 mmboe three months earlier and Santos said it saw its full-year production at 47-50 mmboe, in line with an earlier, reduced guidance.
Santos added it was on track to deliver first LNG in 2015 from its flagship $16 billion Gladstone LNG (GLNG) project.
“GLNG construction activity is ramping up quickly... GLNG is off to a good start. We are on schedule for first LNG in 2015,” Santos chief David Knox said.
The 7.8 million ton per annum project is one of several coal seam gas to LNG projects planned in Australia’s eastern Queensland state.
The company also said that its operations in the Cooper Basin were recovering after flooding in the region during the first quarter of the year, but that some fields would continue to be impacted for several months.
“Gas and liquids production from the Cooper Basin improved in the June quarter, and we expect continued progress in coming months. It is also pleasing to report higher oil production from our Western Australian assets at a time of strong oil prices,” Knox said.
