HSBC Middle East
HSBC announced that Tim Evans has been appointed head of trade and supply chain, for the Middle East and North Africa. Most recently regional chief operating officer of HSBC’s Commercial Banking business in the region, Tim has previously held senior roles in the US and Hong Kong. “Trade and supply chain is one of our most important businesses, and I’m delighted that someone of Tim’s proven experience and expertise is going to be leading it in the MENA region,” said Tim Reid, regional head of commercial banking. “As global trade flows move from the developed world to the emerging markets, the MENA region is a critical hub for the global economy, and HSBC is at the center of this trend with its unrivaled regional and global connectivity.” Tim Evans pointed out that HSBC is committed to growing its trade finance business, particularly in the Middle East.
ETIHAD AIRWAYS
The head of environmental affairs at Etihad Airways has been appointed to chair the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) environment committee. Linden Coppell, an environmental and corporate social responsibility specialist, will chair the IATA Environment Committee for the next two years. The committee is responsible for environmental communication and developing and monitoring the aviation industry’s position on key challenges, including climate change and emissions management. Coppell said: “It is an honor and privilege to be nominated for this role. The IATA environment committee has been instrumental in achieving a unified position on climate change for the airline industry and the development of environment policies and strategies. I look forward to working closely with the committee members and airline environment representatives to further advance our progress in this field.”
