Having blood drawn or an intravenous line inserted can be nasty experiences. According to Accuvein, studies show that up to one third of attempts to access a vein fail the first time, creating unnecessary patient misery as well as additional costs. The company has created a device that is now in use in more than 750 US hospitals. Called the AccuVein AV300 vein illumination solution, the device projects a pattern of light on a patient’s skin that reveals the position of underlying veins. This makes it easier for hospital staff to insert an intravenous line, draw blood for testing or insert a needle for blood donation. The AccuVein AV300 is simple to use. The device is pointed at an area of the skin and with one click, light illuminates the peripheral veins beneath the body's surface.

The Zip Touch-n-go from is based on a charging pad that supports multiple magnetic Mini USB and Micro USB “ZipTail” charging receivers compatible with many smart devices. The short, tangle-proof ZipTails are equipped with rounded magnetic chargers at the end that connect to any of the dimpled spots on the main charging pad. The ZipTails allow allow consumers to pick up a phone call immediately without worrying about disconnecting or reconnecting due to cable-length constraints. The device automatically resumes charging as the ZipTail reattaches. By using a magnetic conductive charging technique and connecting the ZipTails directly to the device, the Zip reduces energy loss and provides a quick charge. And with the included 2100mA power adapter, the Zip can charge at least three mobile phones at once. The Zip Touch-n-go comes with a starter kit that includes one Mini USB and two Micro USB ZipTail receivers. Additional receivers are available separately. It retails for $80.
