Forty-seven-year-old Albrecht Muth was scheduled to appear before a judge Wednesday, a day after he was arrested and charged with second-degree murder
Viola Drath was found dead Friday morning, but the medical examiner has not said how the 91-year-old died.
Muth told The Associated Press on Monday that police said they had DNA evidence against him. He denied wrongdoing.
The German expatriates met in the United States and had a stormy 20-year marriage. Drath, who also wrote for German and US newspapers, accused him in 2006 of assaulting her with a chair in a fight that began with insults about intellect and social status.
