Among various sectors, recreation facilities and gardens is the fifth largest user of land in the Kingdom's capital, the ADA said in a statement.
It added that the increase is due to the marked rise in the number of rest houses over the last few years. The construction of rest houses is still ongoing.
The study showed that housing accounted for the most use of land (29 percent), followed by commercial, business and services (21 percent), agriculture and resources (19 percent), and government offices (no figure given).
The study of land use in the city helps in monitoring the trend of architectural development and recording of urbanization, the statement said.
It added that the study was in accordance with its follow-up of architectural development in the city and to update its land use database to be used in town planning.
The ADA said a digital map prepared by the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh was established to develop the city economically, socially, culturally, architecturally and environmentally.
