Prince Faisal toured the facilities inside the village as well as the antiquities and handicrafts displayed there. The project was carried out with the support of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA).
“I am happy to visit this historic village in this part of our region,” the governor said.
“Many great people have lived in the Kingdom who had been working to build the country and not destroy it. We have to appreciate their contributions,” he added. “This village talks a lot about our great heritage.”
Prince Faisal commended the efforts of Prince Sultan bin Salman, chairman of the SCTA, to develop the country’s tourist resorts and boost domestic tourism.
People of Khobaraa were jubilant at the launch of the village on Eid day and believed that it would bring in a number of investment and create more job opportunities. They also believed that the development of the village would attract a large number of people to the place because of its strategic location on the highway.
Lots of efforts were made earlier to develop the heritage village. Now it has come to fruition and will likely become one of the major tourist attractions in Qassim.
A number of cultural programs were organized in Khobaraa on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr and the festivities attracted a large number of families.
Many people visited the renovated houses inside the heritage village, which includes a number of traditional shops, where vendors sell handicrafts and various gift items.
Some families in the neighborhood prepare and sell a variety of light food items to the visitors.
Meanwhile, Prince Faisal inaugurated the newly established Khobaraa Park that covers an area of 140,000 square meters. The park includes lakes, fountains, jogging tracks and playing facilities for children.
