Marixie Mercado told reporters in Geneva on Tuesday that the casualties were confirmed by Unicef’s local partners in Yemen.
Mercado says Yemen is “on the verge of a humanitarian disaster” due to lack of food, safe water and the growing risk of disease in the country.
Yemeni medical officials say pro-regime forces have killed at least 60 people since Sunday as anti-government protesters step up their campaign to topple President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
