“DEWA has received several requests from potential partners ...to extend the closing date,” DEWA Chief Executive Mohammed Al-Tayer said in a statement.
“DEWA has granted approval after having made sure that there won’t be any adverse affect on the project and therefore on Dubai’s needs of electricity due to this change.”
The 1,500-megawatt Hassyan-1 is the first power plant in the emirate of Dubai that will be built under based on Independent Power Producer (IPP) concept.
The winning developer will own 49 percent of a special purpose company that will own the Hassyan I Project, with the rest held by DEWA.
Final bids had been due by Oct. 18.
