Robert D. Curry has agreed to repay the company for its losses as well as for the cost of the internal investigation of his conduct. The 41-year-old was sentenced for wire fraud Friday in federal court in Seattle.
Court records show Curry was a well-regarded professional in Microsoft’s online business development area. According to court documents, Curry said he hatched the scheme in 2010 when he grew disillusioned with his employer because of an abusive manager.
Prosecutors say Curry used an unwitting third-party vendor in an “intricate and sophisticated scheme” that involved forged documents and a shell company.
