Senior Supt. Gerardo Rosales says the kidnappers released Manuel Boniao near his home in Cagayan de Oro city on Saturday night. Gunmen abducted Boniao from his farm supply store.
Rosales said Sunday that investigators have not yet talked with Boniao because his family said he was resting. The family said no ransom was paid for his freedom.
Boniao’s abduction was one of several recent kidnappings in the south that have alarmed officials. Many of the abductions have been blamed on the Al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf and other armed groups.
