Scotland Yard says Reginald Davis of Wanneroo, Australia will appear later Wednesday at London’s City of Westminster Magistrates Court to face the charges.
The offenses allegedly took place in London between 1949 and 1971. They include four counts of raping a child under the age of 12 and several counts of attempted rape and indecent assault on children under the ages of 12 to 15.
Police said they believe Davis is a British national who has been living in Australia since the 1970s.
The force said it could not provide further details on when or why Davis returned to the UK.
