Targeting gifted and talented high school students, the summer program is aimed at preparing students to help transform the Kingdom into a knowledge-based society.
Mawhiba is to publish 13 scientific programs that students can select from, including technology, engineering, mathematics, natural science, nanotechnology, electronics, robotics, physics, computer science, aviation, shipping and renewable energy.
Under this program, students will be sent to various universities in Canada, the United States and the UK, including prestigious institutions such as John Hopkins University, Princeton, Berkeley, Yale, Oxford, Lake Head University and McMaster.
Last year, a total of 118 students qualified to participate in this year’s programs.
For next year’s summer programs, participants are required to pass the , and other intelligence or multiple mental abilities tests.
Mawhiba was founded in 1999 upon the initiative of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah. It is an independent nonprofit organization based in Riyadh dedicated to identifying and supporting young, gifted and talented Saudis.
