The police said the four suspects had established a brewery to distill alcohol in a desert area near Riyadh. The police said security patrols in the south of Riyadh suspected something was amiss when they saw three persons in the process of loading a car with a large number of plastic bags.
When the patrol car moved in to inspect the activity, the loaders ran way and the car sped toward the expressway. “The suspects were followed to a gas station where they were stopped,” the police said.
According to the police, the car was thoroughly searched revealing plastic bags filled with 120 bottles of Arak, a highly alcoholic spirit.
The police said the suspects directed them to their brewery that was in a desert area not far from the gas station where they were caught.
According to the police, five large barrels of Arak were found in the factory in addition to 12 large and 100 small-size bottles.
The police said the four suspects, the haul and the car were handed over to Al-Shifa police station in Riyadh to complete investigations.
