Civil Defense spokesman in Makkah Lt. Col. Ali Al-Muntashari said 15 units of firefighters under the command of Col. Salem Al-Matrafi battled for hours to bring the fire under control. Investigations are under way to find the cause of the blaze. With Haj season coming, the authorities have appealed to residents of the holy city and pilgrims to take extra care. Civil Defense is on the highest alert during Haj.
