During their stay, the visiting sailors will play a friendly football match with their local counterparts on Monday.
Soon after arrival and a ceremonious welcome of the vessels by the Korean community, their crew members started setting out in groups on a sightseeing tour of the city.
On Tuesday, the Korean Navy and the Royal Saudi Naval Forces will conduct a combined naval exercise including tactical maneuvering to enhance combined operation capabilities.
South Korean Ambassador  Kim Jong Yong, speaking as the chief guest, reviewed ties between the two countries.
"Saudi Arabia and South Korea have been enjoying strong relations based on a solid foundation of mutual respect and friendship in all aspects, including trade, commerce and culture," he said.
Kim, who was accompanied by Consul General Yong-gi Shin, said this was the seventh time the Task Group visited the Kingdom since their first trip in 1977.
Rear Adm. Choi Yangsun, commander of the Task Group, said the group had 620 crew members, including 129 midshipmen on its two naval ships, ROKS Kang Gam Chan and ROKS Chunji.
The group will sail for Istanbul on Tuesday.
Choi said the training aimed to provide practical and systematic onboard education for the midshipmen while widening their international perspective, building friendships with visiting countries and representing the spirit and pride of Korean people abroad.
Visits to the Jeddah Mayoralty, the Coast Guard and the Western Fleet are on Choi's agenda.
